Layer build-up
Three layers, one system
1K stone carpet is not a stand-alone covering but a system: primer, pre-mixed marble pebbles and a two-component topcoat. No layer can be skipped.
Applications
Where to use it?
Indoors and outdoors, on floors and walls. Medium grain is suitable for foot-traffic surfaces and, with the right layer build-up, also for garages. It must not be applied to substrates with rising ground moisture.

Terrace, balcony
In 4–6 mm, on a stable substrate laid to a slope, with PRIMECOAT 2K topcoat.

Indoor and outdoor steps, with aluminum edge protection profiles on the edges.

Joint-free indoor floor with a natural stone look, in 4–6 mm; one bucket covers approx. 2 m².

Also over old, stable tiles, with a quartz-sand BETOGRIP bonding bridge.

In 2–4 mm; one bucket covers approx. 2.5 m². For walls, the finer fine grain is also a good choice.

Installation
Application step by step
Stone carpet does not hide a poor substrate: the result depends on preparation and the layer build-up.

Prepare the substrate
You need a sound, clean, dry substrate free of dust and grease: moisture max. 9%, pH max. 10, fresh concrete at least 28 days old. Repair any breakouts first and fix the edge protection profiles along the edges.
Figyelem 1K stone carpet must not be applied to substrates with rising ground moisture. In that case, the VIRANIX 2K PRO system is the solution.

Prime with TERRALOCK 1K
Apply in a thin, continuous layer with a roller or brush, approx. 0.15 kg/m², without puddles. On tiles, a quartz-sand BETOGRIP bonding bridge goes on first, followed by the primer.
Tipp Only start the stone carpet once the primer is completely dry: approx. 6–12 hours at 20 °C.

Stir, spread and compact
After opening, stir thoroughly at low speed, then spread and compact with a stainless steel trowel using even pressure: 4–6 mm thick on foot-traffic surfaces, 6–8 mm in garages.
Tipp Spreading and compacting are one movement: pulling too hard displaces the grains, too little pressure leaves a loose surface.

Let it cure
At 20 °C it is walkable after 24–48 hours; full cure indoors can take up to 4–5 days. Outdoors, protect the fresh surface from rain and dirt.

Seal with PRIMECOAT 2K
After full cure, in two thin coats with a short-pile roller: first in one direction, then crosswise, keeping a wet edge. In garages, PRIMECOAT 2K PRO is required.
Tipp The topcoat cannot be omitted: it seals the pores and protects the color outdoors.

VIRANIX 1K stone carpet must not be applied to substrates with rising ground moisture; in that case, the VIRANIX 2K PRO system is the solution. For vehicle traffic, a 6–8 mm layer thickness and PRIMECOAT 2K PRO topcoat are required.

What does pre-mixed mean?
VIRANIX 1K stone carpet is a factory pre-mixed covering: natural marble pebbles with a water-based binder. There is no component dosing or mixing ratio, but it must be stirred thoroughly at low speed before use.
Are a primer and a topcoat required?
Yes, both are part of the system. TERRALOCK 1K primer goes underneath (approx. 0.15 kg/m²), and after full cure two thin coats of PRIMECOAT 2K topcoat (approx. 0.30 kg/m² in total), or PRIMECOAT 2K PRO in garages. Without a topcoat, the surface remains open-pored.
How much do I need?
One 25 kg bucket covers approx. 2 m² on foot-traffic surfaces (4–6 mm), approx. 1.5 m² in garages (6–8 mm) and approx. 2.5 m² on walls (2–4 mm). On complex or uneven surfaces, allow an extra 10%. The calculator works out the complete system including primer and topcoat.
Can cars drive on it?
Yes, with the right layer build-up: medium grain, 6–8 mm layer thickness (one bucket covers approx. 1.5 m²), TERRALOCK 1K primer and PRIMECOAT 2K PRO topcoat. At 20 °C it can take vehicle traffic after 5–7 days.
Can it go on a substrate with rising ground moisture?
No, without exception – not even if a foil test happens to show the substrate as dry. In that case, the VIRANIX 2K PRO system with VAPOGRIP EP 2K primer is the solution.
Can it be applied over old tiles?
Yes, if the tiling is stable: it does not sound hollow, does not move and is not damp. The clean, grease-free, matted tiles receive a quartz-sand BETOGRIP bonding bridge, followed by TERRALOCK 1K primer.
Can it be applied to walls?
Yes, it also holds on vertical surfaces, in a 2–4 mm layer: one bucket covers approx. 2.5 m². For a finer surface finish on walls, fine grain is the better choice.
Can it be used outdoors?
Yes, with PRIMECOAT 2K topcoat. The water-based binder is not UV-resistant on its own; outdoors, the topcoat protects the color. Apply between +10 and +30 °C in dry weather, and protect the fresh surface from rain.
Is it water-permeable or watertight?
Without a topcoat, the stone carpet is water-permeable. The PRIMECOAT 2K topcoat seals the pores, giving a closed, easy-to-clean surface. The covering does not replace waterproofing.
When can I walk on it?
At 20 °C it is typically walkable after 24–48 hours; full cure indoors can take up to 4–5 days. The topcoat may only be applied after full cure.
How do I clean it?
On a sealed surface, sweeping, vacuuming and mopping with a neutral cleaner are sufficient. Avoid strongly acidic or alkaline products, solvents and abrasive scourers.
When should you choose 2K PRO stone carpet instead?
If the substrate has rising ground moisture, or if you need an open-pored, water-permeable outdoor covering. VIRANIX 2K PRO is made from a different material, mixed on site and uses its own primer, so the components of the two systems must not be mixed.
