Priming

Penetrating primer, with the right timing

Apply the stone carpet while the primer is still slightly tacky: this is how the two layers bond.

Important

The PU primer forms a closed film. If water can push up from below (ground moisture, damp substrate), moisture may become trapped underneath: in this case, use VAPOGRIP EP 2K.

Priming

Which primer do you need underneath?

The condition of the substrate determines the primer. The 2K PRO stone carpet is always applied to a primed substrate.

Dry substrate (max. 5% moisture)

VIRANIX 2K PRO Stone Carpet PU Primer (for dry substrates)2K PRO PU Primer 150–200 g/m² · the standard case 11.990 Ft-tól

Apply the stone carpet after 2–3 hours, at the latest within 4 hours, while the primer is still slightly tacky.

When you need to move fast

VIRANIX 2K PRO PU Primer Nedves – fast-curing2K PRO PU Primer Nedves (fast-curing) 150–300 g/m² · dry within 1 day at 20 °C 17.990 Ft-tól

For dry or damp substrates; delaying the next layer causes no problems.

If rising ground moisture or dampness is suspected

VIRANIX VAPOGRIP EP 2K - Vapor-Permeable Epoxy PrimerVAPOGRIP EP 2K approx. 0.15 kg/m² · water-based epoxy 12.000 Ft-tól

Used instead of the PU primer. Apply the stone carpet once VAPOGRIP is ready to be overcoated (approx. 24 hours at 20 °C).

Applications

What can it be used for?

Areas of application according to the manufacturer's technical data sheet. In the VIRANIX 2K PRO stone carpet system, the condition of the substrate determines which primer is needed.

  • Under 2K PRO stone carpet

On dry substrates with no suspected ground moisture or dampness.

  • Concrete, render, gypsum

Concrete, reinforced concrete, rendered, gypsum and cement board surfaces, wood.

  • Under PU waterproofing

As a bonding bridge under polyurethane waterproofing systems.

  • Under epoxy and PU coatings

Under floor coatings and for impregnating industrial floors.

  • Before parquet bonding

    Concrete impregnation before bonding.

  • Non-absorbent surfaces

Glass, metal, marble, glazed tiles – according to the manufacturer's data sheet.

Installation

Step-by-step application

The primer is the foundation of the system: this is where adhesion is decided.

  1. Prepare the substrate

The substrate must be clean, dry and sound, with a moisture content of no more than 5%. Remove old coatings, oil, grease and dust by mechanical sanding, then dedust thoroughly.

Figyelem Do not wash the substrate with water before priming. New concrete needs a drying time of at least 28 days.

  2. Apply it

Apply with a roller or brush for full coverage, between +5 and +35 °C; use airless spraying on large areas. Do not leave puddles.

  3. Overcoat in time

Apply the next layer after 2–3 hours, at the latest within 4 hours, while the primer is still slightly tacky. It dries more slowly in cold conditions and faster in warm conditions.

  4. On industrial floors: broadcasting

For heavy-duty use, you can broadcast dry quartz sand to saturation onto the fresh, slightly tacky primer, then remove the loose grains once it has cured.

Tipp On residential, lightly loaded surfaces it can also be used without broadcasting.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

Can't find the answer? Call us on +36 70 575 5500 or write to info@viranix.hu.

What substrates is it suitable for?

For dry substrates with a moisture content of no more than 5%, where there is no suspected ground moisture or dampness.

How much do I need?

150–200 g/m². A 1 kg pack covers approx. 5–6.5 m², a 5 kg pack approx. 25–33 m².

When can the stone carpet be applied?

At 20 °C after 2–3 hours, at the latest within 4 hours, while the primer is still slightly tacky.

What if the substrate is affected by ground moisture?

Then you need VAPOGRIP EP 2K instead of this primer. The PU primer forms a closed film, and moisture can become trapped underneath.

Do I need respiratory protection?

Yes, in enclosed or poorly ventilated spaces. It is a solvent-based product: work only in well-ventilated areas, away from heat, sparks and open flames.

Where can I find the safety data sheet?

We will send it to you free of charge on request: info@viranix.hu.
